We often read in technical journals that some people are mad about receiving different measurements by producing all possible contrarieties. They would like to proof any unwanted sound: a humming, a buzzing, a clanging, or a distortion. In the majority of cases we don’t need every contrariety. At first view the preamp seems to be perfect. But when it is connected with the worldwide power source system it almost fails. The reason is that these lines offer, besides power, all contrarieties we don’t want at all.

Thus, we built a preamp without a power supply line. This preamp is only a piece of wire that is made of pure silver and nothing else.

We can assure you that you will be satisfied with this preamp. Furthermore, you will not miss the absent connection with the mains.

Functionality

A CD-player supplies enough signal voltage to adjust the output stage by itself. That’s why a passive preamp is designed primarily for the regulation of the volume and the signal source.

Our preamp one 3 RCA inputs. The output is changeable as well as the mode of operation. — We have a XLR connection and a RCA one, and both modes are possible a symmetrical and an unsymmetrical. The volume is shifted in 12 levels but separated between right and left channel. These 12 levels measure up to a span between -48 dB and 0 dB in an audible correct logarithmic classification. We switch the low volume levels in steps of 3 dB and the high volume levels in steps of 6 dB.

The Case

The case is made of stainless steel and Delrine. This combination of materials serves an perfect antiresonant solution. Furthermore, the sheets are laser cut and then handmade engraved and polished. The operating buttons are also completely turned of solid stainless steel in a diameter of 40 mm. These are not directly connected with the switch for the input and the volume steppers. It is an indirect connection with a 6 mm carbon axis.

The Terminals

We use non-magnetic RCA jacks in gold or silver coated brass with an isolation of Teflon. For XLR we use Neutrik jacks with the contact surfaces are made of silver or gold.

The Switch

The best rotary switches for low voltages are built by ELMA. We use the type 01 for signal and inside the steppers. Moreover, ELMA produces the switches for us with a 35 µ golden layer as switch contact. We are sure that more than 20,000 guaranteed switching operations show that these people from ELMA in Liechtenstein create great products for our High-End-Life line. All other switches are made by APEM. We directly order the types with AB in the identification number for our gain switches. As a result, we receive an epoxy sealing of the terminals for non-corrosive silver contacts in the signal line.

Wiring

The wiring of the preamp one "pure silver wired audio transformer" is made by solid-core silver wire. These wires are individually insulated by hand with glass fabrics tubes.
